The autor is dead ....... that is going to be the ending
I couldn't find anything on the author dying but she did go onto write for 3years after this so this must have been the plan or publisher didn't want a vol 2.

The artist (mangaka), Tohjoh Asami is dead. The author (Akizuki Koh) is alive, she didn't die.
so the ending is only like that??,,
