marriage isn't just a piece of paper, but it means two people decided to have serious relationship together that protected by law. Becoming spouses, it will create roles, responsibilities and rights. Without marriage by law, there's easy way out if someone wants to call a quit! that's all. Marry or not doesn't have anything to do with fighting or not
What kind of a bullshit ending is this? I know I shouldn't compare manga with reality, but I can't help it; in real world they both be socially screwed if they wouldn't marry, future kid included. Japan is like that. Personally, I don't give a flip about marriage, but legally speaking, it can give you major boost, as in mortgage, inquiry in hospital during emergency, or inheritance... This was an anticlimactic end to say the least...
