Is the seme trying to trick the uke into falling in love with him?

i feel like that's... part of it. he wants to keep the uke close to him for personal gain, but is starting to have feelings for him without knowing it so he's unconsciously also trying to get close to him.

Example: buying the art piece for him, but covered it up with the fact he 'owns him' because he's unconsciously avoiding the fact he bought it because he thought he liked it.
