Yeah. In the previous chapters it is shown that after Athy died in the original plot line that Claude collapsed and jeannette freaking out about it. After that her actual dad appeared wearing the kings official clothes
But I get the impression that Janette is draining Claude's life force/energy whenever she is near him.
