Am I the only one?

When I first read this I cried. It was a beautiful romance. However, I get thinking about it. Eventually, I started to dislike Nishi’s partner. The more I thought about him the more flaky and unreliable I begun to see him. He hadn’t done anything explicitly wrong. He didn’t cheat or anything. But he still hurt the people around him. I feel like he not only wasted Nishi time and in a way shaved at his innocence, he also used his wife and wasn’t sincere with her.

At the same time he hadn’t actually done anything immoral. And while I can’t quite hate him for cracking under pressure and trying to find himself. I am frustrated by it. I felt kind of bad for Nishi because he watched his relationship fall apart, and his partner never tried to work it out together before he dumped him.

Then they meet again. And as much as I don’t like the man I’m ecstatic because this is someone Nishi loved and even time didn’t make him move on. Fast forward approx 20 years and guy dies. Nishi lives about 10+ years and then dies too. The story is about love through separation. But I feel like Nishi always got the short end of the stick.

I agree with you completely. I physically couldn't look at akira the same way.

I think it was the coward8ce that made me have such a hitter taste in my mouth regarding the ending. It was him who chased Nishi, who made Nishi jump into their relationship, pushed his physical relationship, he pushed and pushed and pushed.

I feep like just like at the beginning with their physical relationship in that Akira couldnt push things all the way with yuuki foreshadowed what he did in life. He was always, always, scared and cowardly, and those feelings were priotized over yuuki, and that might have been worse than if he cheated and left for me. Because it was like he was stinging yuuki along, everyone in his life included, they all had to run to him or somehow be a catalyst for his uneventful life.

I have so many feelings for this manga its insane.

You really get it. Even when they were happy it had this sad undertone for me. I never got it, but it was because he never put Yuki first.
