I don't think "lesser" is the right word here. Considering the pain that comes with anal penetration, "lesser" is a bit narrow minded. That would also mean women are "lesser" to men because they receive. Not to mention, I know plenty of bottoms that could crush an average man, especially if the man considered him "lesser" because he was a bottom. Most gay couples switch anyway, often within the same sex session. Relationships, even just sex, is a partnership of equals. There is no "greater" or "lesser" person.
Even of you were referring to strictly yaoi relationships, "lesser" still doesn't define the bottom position. There are many "power bottoms" that I can think of. Read "Men's Love" by Fujisaki Kou for a great example of a "power bottom".
