This story... makes me so, so happy. It’s a shoujo yes, but with PROPER CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. When they first meet the guy has no intentions with the female except to help her, and the girl only has admiration for him. The relationship progression is slow, and they’re both learning small new things about each other. It’s such a feel-good shoujo and by the time the romance hits, guaranteed you were already wanting it like, 15 chapters ago.

- The Best Smell ---> my favourite; a lot better than you may expect
- At the End of the Road ---> amazing characters and chemistry
- Bottomless Swamp ---> cute, you can see the feelings building up (not so much focus on plot)

Shoujo (school setting + supernatural /fantasy) :
- July found by chance ---> manhwa; great female lead, great male lead, super interesting plot
- Fruits Basket ---> manga; old but gold; forever THE best in its genre (don't let the art or first impressions fool you)

BL manga (no school setting; supernatural / fantasy):
- Golden Days ---> great plot and characters; old but gold; not too much focus on romance but you can feel it
- Silver Diamond ---> focus on plot more than romance, but really interesting and well executed + you can feel the feelings; old but gold
- Kamisama no Uroko ---> interesting characters; developing feelings; *sex scenes

...Plus obviously Mo Dao Zu Shi as already suggested.
