I have actually run across quite a few with decent, likable ML's in them lately. I have a list of (what I believe are) good Harlequins where the main couple are NOT toxic people (neither of them, though some side characters may be toxic). That is, if you want to see more decent male leads. Though some of them are 3 second fall in loves, a few on the list take time.
wow this must be the only harlequin where the main lead isn't an abusive asshole and their relationship is actually healthy and genuinely happy. i'm so glad no one was manipulated into a relationship and they took longer than 3 seconds to fall in love.
