You have got it wrong with the small arrow spell at the beginning showed that his capabilities for magic was greater then a lot of people maybe even the best but if u see the chapter where they first started doing large scale magic the professor says that something is preventing him from achieving the large scale attack it’s kind of a challenge to make him grow so that he surpasses them all once he overcomes this he will be most likely better then Evan the brother
Does the story seem a little inconsistent? This is in no way shade just pointing out an observation. For example, the fact that he can’t do the large spell which means he doesn’t have the natural capabilities towards magic. But in the beginning of him at the academy he tried the small spell in his hand and it was WAYY bigger than the others making it seem like he was considerably better than the others.
