I didn't really mind the art since I didn't really care about it (though it does remind me of the art style from Liar Game).
The story is tailored in such a way that it focuses more on gore rather than to tell about interesting characters. The rules are so confusing and aren't made clear-cut beforehand that it makes for an unfair death galore rather than an actual death game, or well, in the terms that everyone has a fair chance of survival and death.
And don't even get me started with the characters. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
