I like the style of revenge that the story takes. Though he doesn't do it intentionally, rather than a brutal revenge, his actions make it that his former 'comrades' change their beliefs and essentially make them indebted to him (and develop feelings).
I kinda wish that the hero would take on his side ngl ╮(￣▽￣)╭
