No he wasn't, Fei wang reed was a fleeting emotion of Clow Reed who wished that the witch didn't have to die, you see it was just a very quick passing thought in his mind but nonetheless his magic power was so strong that it created Fei Wang Reed...if you read card captor sakura then you will know that's exactly why Clow Reed didnt want to be the most powerful magician, he was tired of being so powerful.

Sometimes it was really confusing to understand some parts but still awesome!! But man i cried so fucking hard when Clone Shaoran died. Especially when he said he wanted to hear sakuras words. but another sad thing was (if im not wrong) fei wang reed was in love with that witch and thats why he wanted to make his wish come true, to revive her again.
