But that’s because that’s how it actually is in reality. It’s not as exaggerated as in manga, but being gay definitely isn’t accepted by everyone, especially like how the Ueno family accepts them. There will be people whispering about gay people, but probably not as obvious as how it is portrayed in manga.
I know thats why Im glad, even if its just in a fictional story, that there are people who dont single out gay people or treat them like a freak of nature.
I think those types of whispering are prevalent in Asian countries, especially countries with Save Face Culture. Like in Japan, parents disown their kids, for a number of reason, including being gay -_-. And here in the Philippines, I've read a story wherein two girls are forced to break up because they've been found out by their parents.
