I feel the same. But i have to keep hoping that that will change. Even if it feels like it might not happen anytime soon. Even if I end up having to figure out to write it my own self. It's frustrating the lack of diverse representation in most mangas as it is. Im sure there's others that probably feel the same and maybe some authors just aren't educated on it enough or feel comfortable enough to try to do that but ugh it's definitely frustrating and sad when I think about it.
I don't mean where a character suddenly transforms into another gender because of some potion or curse or body swapping or anything like that. But just genuine representation of trans. Because trans men are men and trans women are women. I know that falls more on the authors to even want to make a character like that but still. And yeah I've seen some side characters that are trans but very rarely if any mc's. Idk just my thougts.
