From what I remember, she never says she's a lesbian. Yes, she's in love with her best friend and that person happens to be a woman. But that didn't mean she didn't like men as well, just that she is suffering due to her unrequited love and the fact that she's in love with a woman, which might be difficult to accept for someone her age.
Okay i agree and i am really happy for her, she is so beautiful and strong. But she actually kind of said it. When she talked with i dont remember who (i read it months ago, here for the notification) she said "what is it like to love or like someone from the opposed sex"
And that was her main struggle; even when she broke up with fis boyfriend she said something similar
