Asami spent a good portion of his childhood living with his father and growing up overseas, most likely based somewhere in east Asia. It appears his father is/was a powerful underworld figure and Asami learned early how to defend himself from violent attacks. By the time he was a teenager he had no problem with killing someone, if it came to that.
His mother lived separately from his father in Japan. At one point, Asami longed for a normal life and he begged his father for that chance. He moved to his mother's place and tried attending high school as a 3rd year, but it seems he was more interested in learning how to run a business and it was his dream to own a bar someday. It was during this time that he met Kuroda Shinji (the DA that helps Asami out in legal - and illegal - matters). He ran into serious trouble during his short stay in Japan and was forced to return overseas to his father and the underworld.
That is a basic summary of a novel about Asami, as seen from Kuroda's POV (here is the cover of that book https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51CohTfB64L._SX341_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg ) I read somewhere there was a short paragraph in BeBoy Gold Magazine about Kirishima (Glasses Secretary) and that Asami met him while attending University. As for the temple, Suoh (Asami's big bodyguard) has a brother (Michihiro) who used to be in the military and is a well-trained fighter. After that, he became a monk, living at that temple. It was Suoh who suggested hiding Akihito at there.
Just to add: all Asami's legal businesses (nightclubs and hotels) he acquired and built up all on his own, and Kuroda is the first and possibly the only real friend (non-business related) he's ever had.

Im guessing he grew up in that temple as well and glasses secretary and the temple guy with akihito was his childhood friends or something. Im also realy curious how he got into the underworld. Doing all those escort club business. Did he enherit it or something? I want to know
