from what I heard, yeah, it's the norm in Japan, especially when the guy is married. All the men do are working and so their wives do all the chores (they often don't work).
I think that's why there is less an less marriages, women are fed up being their moms and they also want to work.
I found the sensei so strange. Dude, I assume you are more than 25 if not in your 30s, how can you be so useless in regards to basic house chores? And, leaving your kid to an ex student?! What the?! It just occurred to me that in many yaoi the kid stays with the dad. Is it the norm in Japan?
