I always watch anime on gogoanime.com :)
Sorry but I have to say this. Aren't you kind of hypocrite? because you said to watch it legally so the person could support the author but here you are in mangago reading mangas illegally that is not supporting the author at all. Come on stop preaching when you yourself is not following the legal way. Every one here are all guilty of doing things illegally since after all we read mangas that will not support the authors at all. In the hundreds of mangas that I read, I have only bought 3 manga series. Sorry for hating on you but I really hate people who preach but not following what you are preaching.
Since I pointed out legal methods as well I'll speak up too, I do purchase manga legally, In fact every single series that I've read online that is available in the US I've purchased in actual book or ebook format. I do support the industry and I prefer to do so legally. Unfortunately it's not always possible to get books licensed in the US, so yes I read books at sites like this. And if and when they become available to buy I buy them. I also buy books in actual japanese sometimes as well, if I really like them. In fact I recently spent 100's of dollars to pick up Tokyo Crazy Paradise since it was re-released in Japan for the first time in years and it's still not available here in the US. So yes I will continue to point out legal methods first and foremost. Especially when most of these legal methods are completely free of charge and just take a moment to actually look into before going with sites that make a fortune off of advertising.
Im not preaching i'm just saying stating the better option for anyone that wanna support the author.
Unlike crunchyroll which offers anime online legally, there in no online distributor that offers manga legally. I'm not saying that it's right but if i had the option of reading manga online by a legal distributor then I would. I read all the webtoons on the official webtoon page that naver had now but it's not the same for manga and a lot of other webtoons
You are lucky that you have the money to do that. I for example have no money to buy the mangas that I read. I only really buy the mangas that I am interested in, like you said, the availability in English is the hard part since it takes long for the publishers to release it. I just hate when people tries to point out that they should just watch or read legally to support the author while reading mangas in this illegal website.
I can understand that, but the thing is it's important to point out that there are legal and free ways to watch anime online. With manga the few places that do offer online reading by charging to do so legally or like you said you are required to purchase the book. And yes it gets expensive to do so, but I'm an older reader and I work hard at my job to afford the things I like. And well honestly are my biggest hoarding thing, I don't drink or smoke or do drugs so all my free cash goes to books! LoL So if anyone asks me where to watch an anime I'm going to say first, here check these completely free sites that are legal and get profit through ads! Vs go to these sites over here that are illegal and are gaining profit through ads! Heck if I could get a website that offered manga the same way at the same rate that anime comes out I'd be happy to fork over a monthly subscription. But sadly in terms of manga it's not likely to be legally translated until it's been out for a long time, has several volumes already complete and has proven a profit. Then it may be licensed. Maybe. Way too many things I love to read on here will never be licensed. And some I discover after they've gone out of print. So sad!
There are a lot of people who don't know that Crunchyroll is a legal website, I only found out when I started watching the new Sailor Moon just this year and I've been a fan of anime/manga since primary school.
I also can't afford to buy hardcopy manga from Amazon/Ebay etc. because i'm 17 with no job so the money i get from my parents I use for food.
I'm not trying to put down anyone who reads or watchs illegally online, i do it too, but if its there so that you can support the author then why wouldn't you use it instead using a website that makes money off of other peoples work with no benefit to the author what so ever.
Also anime and manga are two different things, i'm here to read manga online free even though it's illegal because there is no other avaiable to me in my current situation but when it comes to anime i watch it at crunchyroll because its a legal option available to me. So, no, i'm not being a hypocrite.
