When I read the comments, I was surprised to see that this manga was sad to readers. Personally, it's quite heartwarming to see someone sought out the memories of their friends and to find out more about them after they are gone. I don't think Frieren is grieving about the good times she has lost but is more reminiscing about the journey. When you live such a long life, quite a lot changes in the world and that makes her pursuit in magic all the more important, as it gives her a purpose in life. While Frieren is doing her own thing. The two kids are seeing with their own eyes, what their masters have been through and hopefully will find out what their own purpose in life is going to be.
