this is a response to a question Eddy and I were discussing. Somehow it got into a new topic. ::toeing the dirt::
An advanced society would think differently than we do today, so I can't do an adequate job of describing it. It would be the next step in the evolution of the psyche of mankind The inhabitants, us, would probably be more tolerant, take better care of one another, be more intuitive, more empathic, a hell of a lot less greedy.... but that's too simplistic a description.
In today's world we actually have everything we need to evolve to the next level. It might be a small step or large. We have no way of knowing. I mean if everyone on the planet started treating each other even a tiny bit better starting today, the impact on the human race would be a miracle to behold, which might be all we need to kick us up to a new evolution.
This next level wouldn't be like we're still in our same lives and things are a little better. The planet would evolve, we would evolve. We'd be different. It's where we're headed anyway, unless we throw the opportunity away.
We might as well start being more tolerant, taking better care of one another. If we evolved as a society beyond rape, and that means not just the rapists, everyone would have to change and evolve past rape, there wouldn't be a need for prison cells to keep the racists in.

Interesting thought process, I actually think the opposite is true, I believe that the more advanced the society the more structure is needed. Maslow's hierarchy of needs explains that as we become more comfortable through technological advances or societal advances we begin to want more in life, for example initially as hunters and gatherers we could barely get food everyday so the idea of wanting to be loved or self identity was not as important because they were trying to survive first, now that we live in a 1st world country (I'm assuming you also live in a first world country lol) most people don't have to worry about that and in turn worry about small things like whether or not two characters in a book are going to end up together lol. This increase in needs/wants will in turn increase our emotional necessity and decrease things such as logical intake of a situation which would make us more vulnerable to making wrong decisions. Which is why I say we would need more structure rather than less. Also what you're proposing sounds more like anarchy and I actually don't think it is possible for humans to even obtain a society of anarchy even if we wanted to. Humans are social creatures and will naturally stay together in groups which in turn will make us always attempt to find positions of power for all of us. Even in the wild west where governments weren't as prevalent people still turned towards making their own miniature governments within themselves

It's not fair to base your system on some kind of intelligent structure or organized thought. LOL
I like the idea that the biggest news in a given day would be a cat having kittens. haha
I think if we tried hard enough we could make our society so psychologically healthy that no one would ever feel violent enough to rape. I just don't know where we would even begin on that. I don't think, however, that we could begin down such a road by hating rape and rapists.

But hating something is a way of showing we shouldn't do it...if we didn't hate rapist and rape people would begin to think it's ok when it's not and lol you're joking about the intelligent structure comment right?

    lol yes joking

I think hatred reveals something about oneself, but I don't think it's a good way to demonstrate or show the people around me that I disapprove of rape.
Anyway, is there any doubt that people don't like to be raped? lol

What's wrong with rapists, as I understand it, is that they are filled with violent anger and hatred for women. (mostly women)

I don't think the initial steps to finding a cure is to come at them with hatred.

let's face it, we're in the dark ages. We don't do shit to keep people from becoming rapists, and once they do, we lock them up. Neither of those is a way to keep people from being raped.

Ok so you don't like the crime but the person who committed the crime should just be treated nicely? I see what you're saying about how someone should never have gotten their in the first place but it isn't anyones fault that they decided to commit that crime so no one should have to suffer because of it, going out of our way to help a criminal but not the victim seems a bit backwards in my opinion. If we really want to help each other out we should learn to take responsibility for our actions...anyway I mean that's your opinion though I don't agree with it but it's a different perspective I guess. Cool that we were able to discuss all this minus the name calling and usual bs people pull, I'm not gonna lie tho I am a bit over this discussion so I may not respond lol but it was a nice discussion either way so thanks for that (▰˘◡˘▰) But hey if you really want to get into this subject I studied Machiavelli in one of my philosophy classes he's a dick in my opinion lol but he has a whole spiel about rape being good I don't agree with it at all but it might be interesting to look into if you're more curious about this mindset
