When he looks at her he's reminded of his only love who died giving birth to his only child, and he removed all memories of her mother because they were painful, so obviously he's going to be "uncomfortable" around her. I think being reminded that the love of your life is dead every time you see your kid is a perfectly good reason to be cold, especially when he's the emperor and every feeling and emotion he shows can be used to exploit and kill him. It also gives him migraines, which is why he accepted Jeanette so easily. You really need to read the story again if you can't understand that.

if you really think that one must hate their child because it reminds them of the one they loved then youre absolutely unreasonable and ruthless and also ive read thins manhwa too many times so i sure am understanding the story
well if you dont agree with my opinion theres nothing to be done in the end everyone had their own judgment

the uncomfort comes from the black magic that claude used on himself to forget. he is uncomfortable because the black magic is literally causing him pain everytime he sees athy. he doesn't hate her, it just literally pains him to see her.

ofc he's still a little cold especially cause he also used another spell to kill his emotions but we've seen how he acts when those two spells aren't getting in their way. they've had a good relationship before the amnesia happened so why would u wanna abandon than just cause of claude's clearly unstable state?

i respect that people have their own opinion but it didn't seem like you fully understood the story so far. i hope i helped.

-YO WHAT??? Are you serious with that statement?? I'm reading this slowly and it does not sit well in my stomach. That DOES NOT give you a good enough reason to abandon your child. RESPONSIBILITY. HUMAN DECENCY. HUMANITY IN GENERAL.

I empathize claude's childhood. I really do. But that does not give him an excuse to disregard his daughter just cause his lover died giving birth to her. If he didn't want a child fuckin use a condom man. Or don't shoot it in the hoop wtf. It's like people are saying it's the kid's fault for being born. Nuh uh. If my parents did that I'd want to crawl back in my mom's cooch and pray to be transported to different cooch and live a different life. It. is. not. the. child's. fault.

remember, claude used dark magic to kill the tiny bit of emotion he had and to forget athy's mom. any humanity will basically be gone after that. diana's death hurt him so much that he had to use dark magic just to make it easy on him because he wasnt taught about how to deal with emotional problems properly.

so whether you sympathize with that or not, i think you're missing the significance of having a bad childhood. if that's how you grew up in life, it's very rare for someone to act any different than how they were raised. most times they will is if they see another influence and there was clearly none of that with claude until he met athy's mom who, again, he chose to forget along with his emotions.

having low eq plus getting headaches when seeing someone isn't rly a good combo dont u think? let's not act like we wont be grumpy when we're hurt because of smth we cant control. let's not act like we dont unintentionally hurt the people we love because we're going through smth. everyone has gone through this same experience albeit at different intensity.

This story isn't set in our modern way of living. This is set when every emotion you have towards someone is going to be used to kill you or get you out of power. Old views such as women are objects and you must kill to succeed are still very much a part of this story.

I wasn't saying it's the child's fault. Nobody is perfect, especially an emperor who rose to power through murder and fear. But just like when new mothers develop post-partum depression, this is very much the same case. Also, keep in mind that he could have personally murdered her at any time and no one would question his authority in doing so. His actions aren't totally justified, but there is reason to why he would act this way and understanding that is crucial to your understanding of the story.
