Yeah cause he been living in america until he started middle school. (I think)
It says so in the manga and the anime, that is if you payed attention in the very beginning

I think so, she met with Nanjiro, in a american tennis court.
They never said much about her, but it was stated that she didn't like Japanese breakfast, and would attempt on making american breakfast.
