I want to start by saying that I don't agree with romaticised r*pe or over-sexualisation of any couples being straight or gay or a combination between all the genders... that being said *ahem*

Men absolutely fetishise WLW with the amount of hentai that is solely lesbian potrayals and the HUGE amount of hentai where a female will join in on the sex with another female or heavily target another female (alone or during a threesome or gangbang) despite the fact that they are not gay... mainly to train them, break them or to titillate the men in the hentai. Just look at the most popular hentai list in any site and I guarantee you all of them will have scenes between women; the worst is when theses females are related like sisters, or daughters and so on. Also if you know anything about hentai, you'll know that the MAJORITY of it depicts underage school girls getting violated and humiliated in the most intensely and inventively cruel way ... IT IS TRULY AWFUL AND YAOI WILL NEED YEARS TO CATCH UP TO HENTAIS R*PE PROBLEM!!!

That said, I don't read yaoi but I did research it with a friend on why it's the only genre in the industry that ever censors itself heavily in official releases and ever gives trigger warnings to the audience and despite that it still gets called the most "problematic". This is especially disturbing after I did the math and found that the romaticised r*pe and other harmful tropes that people say make up most of the genre happen more in depictions of straight and lesbian portrayals in manga and anime (and real life) then their BL counterparts but no one ever complains about it. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy people are calling it out but when I realise that those same people don't call out the exact same abuse being targeted at and/or perpetrated by women usually because they are so conditioned that they can't even see it... that is not hypocrisy but sexism and IT's TERRIFYING!!!

Also as a gay woman, I don't mind people who are not gay being invested in a gay couples the same way gay people get invested in a straight couple... and sometimes only because they think the couple is hot. Like where do we draw the line? Should people who are dating someone of the same race never get invested in a bi-racial couple?? I do agree we should not fetishize them with oversexualisation and romaticise toxic tropes BUT this has to happen for all relationships and the outrage can't be limited to a genre which depicts these tropes a lot less than the rest of the medium!!! Also can I get some damn trigger warnings in non-bl mangas... I'm sick of r*pe, pedophilia and incest sneaking up on me with het/lesbian relationships :<
