The drama is so messed up! You better read the novel! It has absolutely another ending, the plot is more interesting, the pacing is not fucked up, there is actual smut and the characters are a lot more realistic. In the drama the only characters who were acted as they should have been (I don't mean their bg story but overall character) are Lan XiChen and Jin GuanYao. And that Xue Yan(g?) if that's his name.
Like really, the Manhua and the drama are nothing compared to the novel!
