Their arrangement is unconventional with no queen, no golden haired and eyed brothers so far and direct heir to the throne. They just got rid of the opposition and so everyone is hurrying to find their own leverage in this new political situation they found themselves in. Kingsmaker has always shown that it is more than just a romantic story. So Shin is definitely not just acting out on his insecurities. Besides being Wolfgang's partner, he is one of his ministers and although he never said it directly, he has proven that he loves their kingdom so much.
