Hm, a bit rushed, but then again both of them were surprisingly self-aware... I mean, for someone with that kind of past, the guy could've just as well turned into this violent or overly-possessive partner, once he grew up, yet he became neither. Moreover, he could pinpoint the reasons behind his reactions and feelings quite accurately.
