Well, both? Lol. This story is kind of complicated and has a lot of stuff going on. Their relationship changes and deepens as the story progress but it's not always how we would expect or wanted it to be. A lot of growth and character development happen but not in a cliché kind of way. Hope my answer helpes a little (￣∇￣")
I'm re-watching the anime and going through the Christmas part right now. I love every character but Stella. She annoys me so much and idk why
