BUT you are the one to make the last decision so I wish you happiness whatever you decide.
Note: It has to be mutual. If you answer yes and you don't really have any feelings for this person it'll just cause unnecessary pain (If you think "ohh but he's my bbf so I don't wanna hurt him" that's B.Sh8- Honesty is better than starting a relationship based on lies or sympathy). You have to think this over wholeheartedly because it takes a lot of guts to confess (especially same sex) and of course it's the same with answering the confession.

If the advice youre seeking is to how to say no, i would say straight up tell him nope, because im not gay or that because im not interest in you. you're just a friend. why would you need to come up with any other reason? you're both guy, you can both deal with it like men!

I think you should consider your feelings first. If you don't feel like you're going out with him is right, then don't. But first, tell him that you're definitely not gay and don't avoid him bcs of that. Tell him carefully that you can't go out with him, but you can befriends with him. Don't hang him with your answer cause it'll confuse him and hurt him. but if you like to give it a try, then tell him a YES

you have to go tell him you need some time to think about it immediately!
whatever your decision may be or even if you still didn`t make a decision yet - tell him that you aren`t disgusted but because you are not gay, just fudanshi, you are thinking it over since he is your best friend and that that just means that you take his confession seriously.
running away when he confessed to you hurt him already and ignoring him now (even if you are just trying to sort out your feelings) would hurt him even more.

since going back to being friends is impossible anyway because he loves you, it`s yours and his choice if you risk getting hurt by trying it out or getting hurt because you say "no" - but it`s important that you both know where each other stands.

There is a big difference between fantasy an reality. If u are not gay no need to pretend even if its for ur best friend.

I am a girl & thinking from your POV i also would have been surprised if my best friend confessed to me. The solution is pretty simple, tell your friend that you are sorry for causing a misunderstanding & that you are not gay. If he really is your best friend then i am sure he'll understand.
And about what you should do....well it's your life, your decision. If you don't like him in a romantic way then it's only polite to let him know ASAP. Don't keep him hanging there. Nothing will come out of asking a bunch of strangers over the internet about YOUR life.
