Can someone explain the beginning of chap 3?? Was she assaulted or something , cuz her mom...

Its her past, shes talking how people where thinking of her, friends familly, yes her parents want her to have the child they want there doughter to have perfect grand and how her parents want her to be what they want , but she doesnt she has other dreams thats why they asullted her( sorry for my bad english, im trying :_)
