I think it was because Chino was so young and witnessed the extreme violence that Shige meted out to the kidnappers. He may have also believed that it was his (Chino's) own fault for Shige going out of control. IMO

What I dont get is why did Shige had to go to prison if he just rescued Chino, by shooting at the kidnappers...
Sometimes the police may go by who did the most damage. Don't forget, after Shige took care of those kidnappers, he kind of kidnapped Chino as well. There fore, the real kidnappers may have been overlooked or something... idk
I think it's because he killed those guys and probably why he only got so little time since he did save Shinji
correct me if im wrong but from what i understand, on page 172 it says that shige escaped with chino after he shoot the burglars (ie. kidnapped him for a week?) and thats how he was traumatised. he's probably possesive.
I'm not sure about in Japan, but even in the USA, self defense laws can vary greatly. There are very limited circumstances where it would be ruled justified homicide, and even then sometimes the laws only reduce the prison sentence.
i am glad Tatsuhiko and Itaru together. But i don't get it, why would Shinji afraid to Shige? Shige was his hero after all.
