Hey guys! In an effort to avoid studying for finals, here's the 3rd installment of this little series. I'm taking a more targeted approach here and aiming it at people who read/have read shoujo manga.
What is/are your least favorite trope(s) of shoujo manga?
I have quite a laundry list of things that piss me off but I'll try to succinctly name a few:
1. That gang of mob character bullies that pops up whenever there's a popular guy, along with the phrases "___ is everyone's" and "we've all agreed to share him for his sake". Uh...no, he's not and no, you haven't.
2. Character X takes off her glasses and goes from hideous to smokin hot. We all know life doesn't work like that. If you want to be convincing, you better do more than take off some transparent lenses.
3. Stockholm Syndrome. This may be my least favorite trope- as in every time it happens I stop reading and (╯°Д °)╯╧╧. It's one thing if the love interest is a slight asshole but it's another when you have your character falling for psychopaths left and right. An MC with a short term memory longer than that of a goldfish won't fall in love with the guy who tried to rape her in chapter 3 simply because he shelters a kitten from the rain in chapter 4.
There are millions more but I'll stop ranting here lol. What about y'all?
