Yes. Actually, in real relationships like that, the abused one does not feel 'love' but 'dependance' on his or her abuser; it's called Stockholme Syndrom and normally happens to kidnapped and isolated victims. The abuser is sick and he made his friend sick too.

Still, it can be "cute" in its own way, if we ALWAYS remember that this should only happen in fiction.
