I agree, especially that we already got used to their characteristics and the ML being powerful able to protect the FL. If that really happens that would be such a waste.
I can see that happening tho...They will probs try to spin it off as the ML finally being able to let go of his burdens...Whatever. I like the power couple vibe!!
I can see that being exactly how they're going to go with it if it's true. You know, instead of character development, and a story arc for the ML. Just OP the FL and call it good... and this was a really good story. Again, that's only IF this is an accurate spoiler and not just a theory. I'm hoping it's not true. I really power couples who are balanced both in their relationship and in action scenarios. It'll be such a blemish on this story if she gains control of the holly sword in my opinion.
I have a theory tho. If you re-read , the desease began spreading after ML had that little snap moment . That dark power that snapped out of him. I think that this is done on purpose, the FL is the now owner of the sword because ML could be the possible resurrection of the Demon King. Matter of fact, he could be the reincarnation of the Demon King if you see the history of ML childhood and etc. Lucifer started as a good Angel before he became the Devil. So what is to say that metaphorically, ML is becoming bad because he keep yearning to be more powerful and stronger so he can protect FL because even with the sword he felt like he couldn’t protect her. So at the end FL will end up saving the love of her life(ML) with the same sword that he now rejects. And he might end up getting it back. Now I think the author is doing this for character growth development. A dicky move , yes . Yes, indeed. But it makes sense and I think it helps with the story and to grab attention.
Another theory I have is, that when ML fully awakens as the demon king. He will be the one to end the cousin and ex of FL. And I think....that would be EPIC.

Spoilers Ahead!
Ok, so according to the spoilers, the FL is actually temporary the owner of the sword. It has been the ML who is the true owner all along but what happen was that in the past timeline, the ML had actually consumed the demon king's heart because he was devastated after the FL's death and the shady high priest made the suggestion to him. (Because honestly, what had he got to lose? and the shady high priest wanted more people to rely on the church through the devil and all that. fuck the church) This is what has been causing him to be unable to hold the holy sword.
Eventually, the dark mana has gone haywire cause the priests and the soldiers to want Claude to sacrifice himself for the "greater good". FL, who is pissed that they didn't look for another route and threw the words of God back at them and they wilted in shame. FL goes into ML's spiritual plane/soul, watches his memories and convinces Claude that she is here and always will be with him.
The Demon King is successfully extracted from ML. He was helping Claude in his own way (I think? It wasn't very clear but he was part of the reason Claude was colder toward humans in general) And asks the FL that doesn't she hate humans too?
She replies that not all humans are evil because people can change even though there are some that don't change. (i.e. her cousin and ex-fiancé)
Before he leaves, he tells the FL that the reason she traveled through time is because Claude ate the demon king's heart because he wanted the FL to be happy. Then the demon king disappears.

A spoiler stated that Ivona is now the true owner of the holy sword. If this is true I call bullsh*t! I'm all for a powerful FL, but to take away the power of the ML and give it to the FL to make her look better is a dick move! I understand that he went through a lot due to his mother and becoming the master of the holly sword. Even more reason for him to fight alongside her with it and become confident in his position. If Ivona is truly the master of the holly sword now I'm going to seriously flip. It's not okay to depower the ML just to make your FL more of a mary sue, beloved by all character. It's cheap writing is what it is.
