Damn the billboard

Billboard really had nothing to do with it. It wouldn’t have been there if he hadn’t plotted an overly cruel and humiliating revenge on a woman he honestly hoped would not have regained her memories by then. And he even knew WHY she had got mad, but instead of trying to fix it he decided to lock her out - figuratively and literally. She didn’t help matters (before she lost her memory) This was a couple of mixed up characters, so I can’t blame the billboard.
