I was just remembering that and was going to comment on it but you beat me to it. A homophobic asshole that tried to "fix" his gay son by attempting to beat and drug it out of him. ☹☹☹☹
I think the illness they are talking about is probably because he is gay, back then they used to think that being gay or lesbian meant you were sick or had a spirit possessing you. I think his father hit him after he saw something or after he said something, i think he was in love with another dude and his father did something to this dude which is why he hates his father and doesn't go back home. Maybe he saw Nakyum paintings and became a fan, since Nakyum was freely expressing himself and his desires and he couldn't do that because of his dad and status. This is so confusing cause back them men used to engage in sexual activities with one another , like that was okay and normal but being gay isn't like tefuq but this is just my theory
