I don't see how you could possibly have actually read this, not skimmed over or skipped parts, but read the entire story, and ask such a question. If you had any emotional connection with the author, the story, or the lovers, you'd know that they make a very romantic, well-matched, and beautifully portrayed couple.
your why, oh why!? sounds just plain ridiculous.
This had potential I like how the uke had acknowledged the rape and ran but why end up with him......why?!
