I like the ones that have a great plot/story that includes lovely art. No preference on genre - but I don't like the ones with the characters who yell and shout constantly (Think Koisuru Bokun)
I have 2 favorite types: extremely cute fluffy ones like Seven Days or extremely smutty detailed ones like Zaria or Kitsu ka nu Shisen. It's either go soft or go hard.

To be honest i didnt like the art in the beginning. But i was too bored and decided to give it a try. The story is good that i didnt even bother about the art much. Try to read it whenever you're bored :)

I love yaoi stories with pleasant, beautiful art, sweet plot, some action or adventure, misteries (oh yes!! I love them) and I don't mind a dark and complex plot as long as the ending is happy and romantic (▰˘◡˘▰). And if the characters are pirates, detectives, thieves or wear black suits with gloves, then it's a huge plus for me~

As for me i like the dark, angst, twisted manga. The type of manga that can make you cry like Yami BL, Sora o datei, Sakura gari, etc //rape, abuse, dark past, twisted plot, etc. Either happy or sad ending it doesn't matter //but i prefer happy ending or at least an open ending.
