Compared to other shoujos, this was actually a big step. If you want strong MCs in shoujos though, check out Skip Beat, Akatsuki no Yona (She has character development, so she is 'weak'/depressed in the first 5-10 chapters), Akagami no Shirayukihime, Oresama Teacher, and etc. You can PM me on Mangago for more recommendations. He basically kept calling her a gold digger and told her she should go after the rich old man and she still wound up with him...we need more strong women in manga ...because this manga made me sick.
