I agree with you, but I interpreted that differently, I thought he understood he's not mentally ok and it scared him, so he took all these meds to make them work faster. It's not rational but he was panicking.
Also , I was kinda scared what would happen in this chapter and I'm very satisfied. As you said, Chowon's character is realistic, and I only see his "redemption arc" as taking care of his mental health and making peace with Dojun and Heesoo. They won't be friends, that's not possible at this point, but the hostility can, and should stop
yesss i also think his character is important and i like how fargo make a special chapters for chowon and dont leave him as just one of a bad side character. we get to see things from his side and i like that hes slowly changing too. i also like how you explain it all like this and lmk each and everyone role especially when facing a mentally ill person like chowon
Oh! I just wanna share. That's interesting actually. People with mental disorders usually don't know they have them. But they are usually very aware that they have discomforts and that they are having a hard time. I don't know how fargo wanted to convey what that specific scene meant. But in reality they usually give medicines for depression, mood swings and anxiety for people with his disorder. So in that situation, I'm guessing he was having an anxiety or panic? attack, he probably panicked and just wanted the discomfort to stop. But that's too specific i think? But I hope what you interpreted is true though. Problem with personality disorders is that, the disorder is so stubborn, unless you really dedicated attention to rectify it, it usually doesn't budge. Hoping the best for Chowon (▰˘◡˘▰)

And that ladies and gentlemen is a perfect example of the consequences of trauma, neglect, avoidance, inferiority complex, neglect of mental health (both chowon and the people around him to him b4 the heesoo issue). God, I can't explain how much I love Chowon's character. It's so realistic, it's so raw. I'm not romanticizing mental illness and suicide. My point is, that's a very good visual representation of a person with narcissistic PD.
Remember how that one guy related to him belittling him cuz he's an omega? I think that he's been treated like that all his life. Imagine being told you're inferior your whole life. At some point you begin to believe that yourself. People with narcissistic personality disorder has underdeveloped ability to be empathetic and to share. They unconsciously think that they are inferior to others hence as a defense mechanism they demand to be treated in a special way so they don't think you are treating them as inferior to you. Because that's their core belief about themselves.
God, I cannot emphasize how important it was for Dojun to help Chowon back when they were married. He already has the trauma of being belittled by his family so he ain't gonna ask them for help. He was always looking for assurance from Dojun and Dojun admitted he was wrong that time.
Main treatment for his condition is psychotherapy. Learning empathy from other people. He got a taste of a support system from kyungsoo and damn, all the decisions that he made while he was MENTALLY UNSTABLE CAME BITING OFF HIS GORGEOUS ASS. GAHD, AND WHEN THAT 1 PERSON HE WAS CLINGING ON TO SAID HE SCARES HIM. FCK, THAT BREAKDOWN WAS ON POINT.
In extreme cases, narcissistic personality disorder can have psychosis and that shit's terrifying. No wonder he drunk all those pills. He just wanted everything to stop.
