Usually I'm not a fan of age gap but it totally makes sense here. The prince is a rebellious teenager and his goal is to choose the most inappropriate person to piss off his dad, other guy is really trying to not get swept up in it. Plus what with the younger one being rich as hell and a literal prince the power imbalance isn't such a big deal.
