ENTIRE MANGA SUMMARY STARTING WITH CH: 6

so a lot of people have been upset about the manga's elements, so here is a summary of the entire manga

CHAPTER 6: ruri and toma-chan meet up with nosegawa's son and talk in toma-chan's cafe. nosegawa's sun basically says that nosegawa-san is not a great man and expresses that he's worried about ruri (since nosegawa-san is so old) the son takes ruri to go confirm her feelings for nosegawa-san. on the drive to nosegawa-san's office, nosegawa-san's son talks about a girl who committed suicide (after being played by nosegawa-san)
nosegawa-san's son freaks out at nosegawa-san and makes a scene about how nosegawa-san has never been there for the family and is playing around with a girl that same age as nosegawa-san's own son.
nosegawa-san kinda beats up the son and tells ruri to go home for the day. she confesses to nosegawa-san and he asks her, "you wanna sleep with me ?"

that's the end of season one !

season two starts off with ruri recalling that day, where she went home and thought about the events of her confession. she calls tomo-chan, who is going on a date with nosegawa-san's right-hand man (blonde haired guy that's always with nosegawa-san). his name is hiwasa-san. the three of them enjoy a day at the amusement park. they eat together and at the end, right before going their own ways, a prostitute-type girl comes running out, and hisawa-san insinuates that nosegawa-san comes to this area (full of cabaret girls, etc.)

chapter 8: ruri and tomo-chan are at school in the beginning (university) and ruri believes that she is no longer afraid of speaking to boys now that she has spent the entire summer working the register job and speaking with all kinds of men (nosegawa-san's men). ruri goes home and is just about to call nosegawa-san when she receives a phone call from him. he basically asks her on a date, where she says she'd like to go on a drive with him. she and tomo-chan pick out clothing, and on the day of the date, she and him go on a drive and eat out. they go to the banks of (i think it's a sea ??) and he asks her if she'd like to drink some tasty coffee at this nearby hotel. they get into the car, and she tells nosegawa-san that the other day, (when he had asked if she would sleep with him) she had nodded in reply. she kisses him, and they kiss for a moment deeply. then he smiles deviously and tells her that today, he has to go since he has work. "is just coffee okay ?" he asks, and she nods, her body burning.

okay, basically from here on out, a girl (we'll call her X) (who was once infatuated with nosegawa-san) comes and puts a little idea in ruri's head that an older man once seduced X's sister and the sister ended up killing herself. X screams that she wants to kill this older man, and tomo-chan calms down the girl, X. X tells ruri that ruri looks similar to X's sister, then pulls out the same brand of cigarettes that nosegawa-san smokes.
X goes to work, at a hostess-bar type place, and she goes to nosegawa-san's table. the two later have sex.

then ruri visits the store she used to work at, and overhears a customer requesting cigarettes, but it's the same one nosegawa-san smokes. she looks back and sees X. the two sit at a bench and X asks what kind of person ruri's boyfriend is. ruri says that he smokes the same brand as X, which causes X to exclaim, "then he must be quite the older man !!" they continue talking, with X telling ruri that she smokes this brand because she ended up seeing many older men smoke this at her cabaret job. she asks ruri if ruri is capable of working there, and if she'd think about it now that ruri quit her job. then X tells ruri that the man she wants to kill is nosegawa-san, and that she has noticed ruri and nosegawa-san associate with each other in the store whenever nosegawa-san came to buy something. X asks ruri if she knows anything about nosegawa-san, and when ruri doesn't answer, X asks, "then why do you like nosegawa-san ?"

nosegawa-san gets a phone call and it's X asking to meet up. it starts raining and when she grabs an umbrella, she looks at the picture of her sister and her and tell the photo, "i'll be back" and she leaves the house.
ruri is still on the bench, and thinks "i don't want to go home."

we get a flashback of X's past before her sister died. we get a glimpse of X before working at the cabaret, where she was a little pudgy and "plain-looking". she says one day she saw a glimpse of a man talking to her sister, and then X's sister soon died. X is laying on her tummy, looking on her phone and identifies that the man who had been with her older sister was nosegawa-san. X realizes that her sister worked an "onakura" job, which is a place where beautiful women help men masturbate.
(onakura job: originally, women would just watch, but then there came options for women to help with hand jobs, etc.)

X thinks about how nosegawa-san seems to be attracted to girls that look like X's older sister. while she says this, we see ruri from X's point of view. X has seen ruri get into nosegawa-san's car. X says to herself that she is having fun, doing all sorts of things for love. then, while skipping into the road with her umbrella, she says, "thank you for dying, older sister."

ruri and tomo-chan talk to hiwasa-san and they talk about X. ruri decides to join the cabaret job to talk to X, and when tomo-chan says she'll join to help out ruri, ruri say's she can do it alone. ruri goes, and she's given the name "ageha". one of the girls there draws a mole on ruri's face after she asks ruri if she's worked in a hostess job before and hears that it's ruri's first time. ruri goes out and is told to join the table X is at. X is surprised to see ruri, and ruri seems to do a good job of entertaining her guests.

ruri gets her pay, and then X comes in. X asks if ruri needs money, but ruri answers by saying, "don't do anything to nosegawa-san". X asks, "did you believe everything i said ? stu--pid" when ruri starts rambling about X's dead sister. X talks a bit and basically says she'll kill ruri. ruri runs out in fear. X grabs ruri's hair, pushes her to the ground, and yells at ruri to not be happy of her victory. X expresses her anger at how evreytime nosegawa-san would enter, ruri would smile all brightly at her place at the register.

X starts pulling ruri's hair, and everyone outside starts yelling about the cat fight. ruri tells X that all ruri wants is nosegawa-san. at that moment, someone calls ruri's name, and it's nosegawa-san. he picks up ruri, and tells her "let's go, my car is here." they leave, and X watchs them go. as they go, she says, "please, call my name even once."

nosegawa-san drives her to a hotel, and he lays her down and kisses her, wishing her goodnight. in the morning, her and nosegawa-san get their coffee and creme soda in the lobby of the hotel. he teases her about the creme soda.


season three

tomo-chan and ruri have a chat, where ruri starts retelling the events with X. tomo-chan bursts out that they are still children, and that although tomo-chan wanted to support ruri with ruri’s first love, she can’t because he’s so old. tomo-chan says she tried to protect ruri for so long, and that this is no good any longer (the love she has for nosegawa-san)

ruri starts to tear up and asks, “are we really children ?”
she tells tomo-chan that she knows she worried tomo-chan and that ruri too wishes she could stop. but she thought about the fact that stopping would mean she wouldn’t be able to meet nosegawa-san and talk to him on the phone, and she couldn’t bear it. furthermore, ruri says at the hotel, nosegawa-san simply brought her there and left without doing anything. in the morning too, she went home in a taxi. all alone. ruri says, “i wanted to be together. this is what i thought. i don’t know what to do. no. i don’t understand, what should i do ?”

nosegawa-san is counting money with the driver and hisawa-san, and he tells them, “ruri called this morning saying that she arrived at home, and said thank you.” after a little talking, he says, “i want to be by her side and protect her. this is the feeling she gives me”

while ruri is bathing, nosegawa-san calls her and and asks if they can go out. he says sweet things to her and she tears up in happiness. she tells him she’s looking forward to their date, and then claims in her mind: i’m a fool.

tomo-chan quits her job and has her last cup of coffee there. she thinks about how she and ruri met nosegawa-san’s son there once. suddenly, hisawa-san enters, and she runs after him, telling him she’s quit. they chat for a bit. he asks if she would like to have some ice-cream, but declines. she tells hisawa-san that although he is a good man, she’ll never meet him again. they separate amicably with a shake of a hand, and tomo-chan goes to meet ruri.

tomo-chan is having an inner conversation where she basically wishes for ruri to never be unhappy.
we get a glance of nosegawa-san’s son and the nosegawa-san’s wife talking about tonight’s food. the son says he’ll eat out.

nosegawa-san and nosegawa-san’s wife meet up. they talk a bit about a man who died and their son, and then the wife brings up ruri. the wife has heard about ruri from the son, and that ruri is the son’s age. she speaks a bit about the kinds of girls nosegawa-san likes. they leave, and she is in the car with nosegawa-san’s driver. the wife asks the driver about ruri, and asks the driver to take her to ruri’s house. they both identify each other just by looking at each other. there, ruri is basically kidnapped by nosegawa-san’s wife.

they talk, mostly the wife about how her life with nosegawa-san was. she compares herself to ruri, saying that she got with him and pregnant around ruri’s age. ruri gets upset towards the end of the conversation and asks that the wife not compare the two of them. ruri leaves, angrily.

ruri and nosegawa-san go on their date. they walk around, and then both bathe at a hot water spring inn.

they sleep together.

they eat together in the morning. there’s a lot of people at the inn. nosegawa-san and ruri talk for a bit, and towards the end of the conversation, ruri says she is happy to have eaten breakfast with him. they wish to travel together again. once they get off the plane on their way back, nosegawa-san says he’ll smoke a cigarette. ruri says then, she’ll sit on the bench. right then, X comes running in with a knife, a bandage over her nose. (she might have undergone plastic surgery) she goes towards ruri, but nosegawa-san stops her. he collapse on ruri.

ruri’s parents find out everything. the mother is devastated that yakuza members visit convenience stores. ruri is basically under her parent’s eyes, where she has a GPS on her phone so her parents can know of her location at all times.she meets up with tomo-chan, they talk, and then tomo-chan leaves. ruri pauses for a moment in her seat at the cafe, leaves the phone at the cafe, and exits. she walks for a bit, then pulls out another phone, and says, “hello ?”

we see nosegawa-san talking to someone, they predict hard rainfall soon. he buys and leaves with a cane. he gets into car, where we see ruri is the driver. they return to his house, where she first thinks of buying beer, but after puting up the laundry, decides to make tea. they talk about the fireworks a little. she says, “let’s switch on the air-conditioning until the fireworks”, but it seems as if it’s not working, so she brings him his tea, then lifts his shirt up with a wet rag in her hand. she places the rag on his tummy, and the water spills out slightly. looking at him, she says, “i should have squeezed out more of the water”, and smiles.

nosegawa-san looks down at her, and calls her name.
