That was when people were stabbing Xie Lian in attempts to cure themselves, which worked, but since Xie Lian was immortal at the time, he couldn’t die. Hum no... the boy’s name is Lang Ying, he’s the nephew of the king of Yong’an (you’ll learn about it in the novel) and it’s a bit complicated but his uncle was infected with the disease because of Xie Lian who wanted revenge (Yong’an basically destroyed the kingdom of Xianle) and so Lang Ying got infected with the human face disease from his uncle’s butchered corpse.
