Well of course everyone has their own opinion in certain things, I do agree with some things you say but now with everything. I still find it a cute story and enjoy it (kinda am bothered that Ren is a minor but I don’t really care and tho if it was a yaoi I’d be bothered a lot). The same age rule is broken in so many manhwas/ manga but their fictional and for others entertainment, not even in just BL but hetreo manhwa/manga too. And keep in consideration that some people have parents who have large age gaps who are doing perfectly fine so they might be perfectly fine with this.
I used to relate. When I was obsessed with yaoi for a while I saw a ton of age gaps. Ex: hitorijime my hero. And I just went along with it because I thought the characters were “so cute so I didn’t care” and then as time went on I realized how fucked that situation is. Anyways nuff said w that... I feel like in this case that age gap excuse can’t be used because it’s not like their 25 and 31. That kid isn’t even legal in the slightest. He can’t consent and they shouldn’t be kissing either.
Tru. But I searched it up an current age is 16 and 24 so 8 years. That isn’t too bad, my best friend parents age difference is 12 years, I never thought that was weird and actually normal. Of course I can’t relate my parents are 2 years apart. It depends on which situation, I’m not trying to fight about who’s right, again this is opinion. But I don’t think you should say everyone who likes this manga is sicking since everyone has a different view :)
I think it’s not up to pov because in this case it’s very much illegal. It’s different when two of age, consenting, adults can date. I see what ur getting at and I don’t think an age gap of 12 years is weird as long as they both are adults. However ren is a minor. That excuse doesn’t work here. And yes the readers of this are sickening for having a preference of reading this. This is wrong. Stop attempting to justify this. :)
Also I think yaoi is wrong in general, shounen ai is so much better. And yes I can’t stop anyone from reading it. But what I can do is call out the predatory behavior and rape shown commonly in this genre. I won’t give this a pass anymore. It’s putting a negative stereotype on gay men and it’s alsooo fetishizing them if ur not also a gay man. Anyways you can still read it of course just have fun being a terrible human being.
