It's best to not give people like that the time of day. They thrive off the attention, even though it's negative. Best thing to do, is not involve your family in a conversation like that, as it's easy to become angry when it regards loved one. Just adds fuel to the fire so to speak.
Yep, what @animeprincess said ... those people are bullies (cyberbullies) who need to belittle others in order to feel good about themselves. If they don't get the attention, they eventually stop what they are doing, because it is unproductive. And how is this person going to hurt your family? WIth words only - unless you display your address and contact information for all the world to see (which I hope you don't) I keep my privacy settings really high on social media and try not to let anything too personal get posted.

Yep, there's all kinds of nasty, ignorant people out there. I went to an anime convention in San Jose once and there was this guy protesting anime right outside the building right in front of the line of attendees. I think he was saying something like anime is the source of corruption in youth, which is some block-headed logic right there. I knew better than to antagonize crazy fanatics like him, so I didn't bother to look at him nor look at the sign he held. I was impressed because most of the fans did the same thing and kept on walking. But I was still upset. As much as I would have loved to give him a piece of mind (╬￣皿￣)凸 I'd probably regret it. Those kinds of people won't change their way of thinking.
Also, I'm surprised that a person who opposes anime so vehemently would use the term 'weaboo'. I mean, it's supposed to be a derogatory term, but it's really used by other anime fans or anime dabblers. It could've been an anime fan's sick idea of amusement.

Ok so this one guy on fb was acting all high and mighty saying that anime was for weeboos and I was like "what? Can you say that one more time?" And he said it again and I was filpin and talking shit to this guy and he was like you people are retarded and should die and I was like oh so your planing to kill even a 4year old (cuz my cousin is 4 and watches anime) and he said no shit if it deals with anime!!
