@Frasier, that was such a great comment. Agree, a lot of this authors works tend to be quite questionable. Women in general in gekiga and older seinen are never portrayed well, but in this one it seems more equal, the only redeemable character is the poor boy who is forced to tag along with his aimless father, left without clothes or food. Like with "Sayonara Nippon" guess the only response is "it is what it is", or more appropriately "it is what it was".
