The prince was never in love with Tasmin. They were childhood friends and their parents decided they should marry. It's a little annoying because the uke basically spends the next volume asking the prince about her and outright suggesting he's still in love with her and the prince lets him think that, while refusing to share more info about her the whole time, because he loves a jealous partner.
