She wanted to kill the guy because the girl who died was her sister. They have the same last name. So basically, he raped her sister, her sister committed suicide, and the girl spent the rest of her time plotting out her revenge. The young teacher was related to her accomplice, as she also had his last name. She turned herself in after feeling guilty for what she did to the boy who was taking the blame, then she ended up being the one who killed herself. The main character didn't look closely enough. The gender of the person who died was never specified, so he didn't realize she was the one he needed to stop.
