It's not that complicated--though each story is based on a speculation. In the first one--what if there is another person like you (like the identical looking mice in that experiment)--who, when they learn something, you learn it, too. So, the hitman in the room and the student at school both got skills each got from the other. One liking milk in the coffee. The other doing the puzzle. One throwing darts perfectly the first time.

In the second story, the premise is that the humans are like the theoretical crows: they can only count and see up to 6. Beyond six, it's invisible. So, the parents don't see the FIFTH child--who become the 7th member in the count, the girl, the boys--and they are invisible to the families. The same with the fruit--the kid could only pick 6 because beyond seven he could not see. So, the 7th ones of groups/families have to make lives of their own. The tragedy is that the 5th boy/7th member who promised not to let his kids be invisible has an invisible 7th family member.... You'd think they'd get sterilized or stop having sex after kid #4. Sad. But well done.
