It didn't take a reincarnation stand point. Both this kotofuji and mayuki were "replacements." Neither were the original Kotofuji nor Tsuguyasu. I just find that kinda refreshing.
But like yo that backstory. Kotofuji trying to save Tsuguyasu by doing something he definitly shouldn't have. Being punished and then losing his life. Tsuguyasu being the one left alone and trying to cope by making a painting that then came to life in the form of Kotofuji. But they clearly aren't. Like ow...ow all around. My soul. It hurts.
