The main reason why that shitty emperor even took an interest and showed affection to Trashta was because unlike Navier who is a powerful intelligent woman who works efficiently, Trashta is “naive, innocent, and loving”. The emperor couldn’t “love” Navier because she was “cold” to him and because he couldn’t exactly control her like he wants to. Navier is too smart.
So when the emperor met Trashta and saw how much she needed him for support, he instantly fell in love because now he has someone depending on him. Also since Navier was born a noble, she already had everything she wanted and needed. Trashta was said to be happy with “a single jewel” and the emperor found it refreshing thus he really liked that part of Trashta.
Now since Trashta is being compared to Navier, she wants to be more like the empress. That’s why we see her trying to copy Navier’s mannerisms. Trashta aims to be empress. What Trashta doesn’t understand is that the only reason the emperor loves her is because she is refreshing to him and she is supposedly innocent to the noble society and their greed. So if she suddenly tries to be more like Navier, she will only grow to be a third rate copy.
When the emperor eventually divorces Navier and realizes all he has is a disappointing copy of her by the name Trashta, he’ll realize how much he fucked up.
Also that’s just my analysis, now for the spoilers (up to ch 173 because that’s when the official translations stopped)
The whole reason why the emperor wants to divorce Navier isn’t because he loved Trashta lol. He’s not that devoted to his concubine. Simply, it’s because he wants Trashta to be empress so her child can officially be heir since he and Navier can’t have a child. Btw, both Navier and the emperor are infertile. Trashta’s baby is not the emperors and the only reason Navier is able to have children’s with Heinly is because of a magic bed they made love on. He plans on divorcing Navier, having Trashta take title of Empress then supposedly bring Navier back. The emperor wants Navier to be thrown away for a year and after that, he will take her back. What the emperor doesn’t know about is that he didn’t expect Navier to abandon him and remarry also. The emperor thought Navier was going to sit still and look pretty while waiting for him to live and pick her again. What a fucking dumbass right?
The English translations stopped due to the author’s wishes so if you want to read beyond ch. 173, you will have to go to the official sight and read the novel through machine-translations.
